Whiskey Bananas Foster

Time: 20 minutes

Serves 4

2 medium ripe bananas, quartered

¼ cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons salted butter, preferably grass fed

Zest and juice of half an orange

Freshly grated nutmeg

¼ cup whiskey

Serving recommendations:

Toasted brioche

Crepes

Ice cream

Whipped cream

Chopped nuts

Flaky salt

Place the bananas cut side down in a large skillet with the brown sugar, butter, orange juice, zest, and nutmeg. Over medium-high heat, cook until brown sugar and butter have melted and a sauce has formed, making sure to continuously shake the pan to prevent sticking.

Flip the bananas and turn the heat to low. Pour in the whiskey, and use a long match or lighter to CAREFULLY light the whiskey on fire. Allow the sauce to cook until the alcohol has burned off there are no more flames. Gently shaking to make sure there is no sticking.

Serve the bananas over ice cream or toasted brioche, crepes, or ice cream with toppings of your preference (whipped cream, chopped nuts, etc.) Finish with flaky salt and enjoy!
